Where Can You Travel with a Single Vaccine?

Those who are still partially vaccinated but are hoping to go on a summer holiday abroad can choose to go to green and amber list countries. We will discuss what you need to do before departure and upon your return to the UK. So if you’re hoping to travel regardless of Covid-19 this summer, read on.

The UK’s travel light system works as follows for single vaccinated travelers:

Green list countries: You do not have to quarantine upon your return to the UK, but you need a pre-departure test before flying and a day-2 PCR test in the UK.

Green watchlist: Destinations on this list can suddenly move to the amber list. Green list rules apply.

Amber list countries: You need to book a pre-departure test and two post-arrival tests if the country you’re visiting is on the amber list, you’ll also have to quarantine up to 10 days upon your return to the UK if you’re not fully vaccinated. You can get a ‘Test to Release’ on day 5 to stop quarantining when you receive a negative result.

Fully vaccinated travelers do not have to quarantine upon return to the UK, except if they are returning from France.

Where Can You Travel if You Are Double Vaccinated?

Amber plus: On the 15th of July, it was announced that France would be added to this unofficial list because of concerns of the beta variant. Those who arrive from a country that is on the amber plus list are required to complete 10 days isolation upon their return.

Red list countries: If you are returning from a red list country, you need to book a compulsory hotel quarantine package including; 10-days hotel stay, and 2 tests (day 2 and day 8). If you break the quarantine rules you may face a penalty of up to £10,000.

Which countries are on the green list and green watchlist?

On the green list: Australia, Brunei, Bulgaria, Falkland Islands, Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, Hong Kong, Iceland, Malta, New Zealand, Singapore, South Georgia, and South Sandwich Islands, St Helena, Ascension, and Tristan da Cunha.

Some of the green-listed countries do not accept any tourists at the moment. We recommend you plan your travel accordingly. If you choose to visit a destination on the green watchlist, make sure to plan your return before the second review that will take place in the first week of August.

On the green watchlist: Anguilla, Antarctica/British Antarctic Territory, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Bermuda, British Indian Ocean Territory, Cayman Islands, Croatia, Dominica, Grenada, Israel and Jerusalem, Madeira, Montserrat, Pitcairn, Henderson, Ducie, and Oeno Islands, Taiwan, Turks and Caicos Islands.
